2019年5月22日-23日两日,合肥常青学校分年级段举行了全校所有孩子参加的“IVY达人秀”英语诗歌朗诵比赛,家长视实际情况自主参加此次活动。孩子们在英语教师的指导下,给大家带来了一场别样的“英语学术show”。
From May 22 to 23, the Poetry Day Slam of “IVY’s Got Talent" was held in the bilingual grades of Hefei IVY Experimental Academy. Under the guidance of English teachers, children have brought us a different kind of "English Academic Show".
低年级的孩子们用英语演唱了“小星星”等儿歌,稚气未脱的表演充满了童真童趣。相信这是他们迈向“常青毕业生十项全能”中“会演唱150首英文歌曲”的小小一步。
The children in the lower grades sang children's songs such as "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" in English, and their childish performances were full of childlike interest. It is believed that this is a small step for them to "sing 150 English songs" in the “Ten Skills of IVY Graduates”.
高年级的同学则用铿锵有力的声音,为大家呈现了或气势磅礴、或柔情婉转的长篇诗朗诵。小少年们借诗抒发了对梦想的追求和对生活的点滴感悟。
The students in the senior class recited long poems with loud and forceful voices, presenting them with great momentum or gentleness. They used poems to express their pursuit of dreams and their insights into life.
此次英文诗歌朗诵会在检验学生英语学术水平的同时,鼓励孩子们勇敢发声,将英语学习融入到日常生活交流中,真正做到学校所期望学生们达到双重语言。
跟随着音乐的节拍,从口中郎朗诵读出有韵律的诗句,如一汪清泉的水,缓缓流进每一名教师和家长的耳中和心里。
The Poetry Day Slam tested students'English academic level, encouraged children to speak bravely, integrated English learning into daily communication, and truly achieved the "Dual Mother Tongue + 1" that the school expects students to achieve.
Following the rhythm of the music, they recited rhythmic poems, such as the water of a clear spring, slowly flowing into the ears and hearts of all the teachers and parents.
紧张又不失温情的比赛中,由外教老师组成的评审团队给孩子们进行了逐一的点评和打分。打分项目包括词汇准确度、发音、流利度及情感特色等部分。作为一次诗歌朗诵比赛,自然是有名次的;然而作为一场“达人秀”,名次反到变得没有那么重要了。
In the tense but warmth competition, the evaluation team composed of foreign teachers gave the children one by one comments and scores. Scoring items included vocabulary accuracy, pronunciation, fluency and emotional characteristics. As a poetry recitation contest, it is naturally ranked; however, as a "talent show", ranking has become less important.
孩子们从练习初期的胆怯,慢慢转变成了台上的自信与勇气;从最初生怕读错一个单词,到可以跟着音乐流利的展现一首完整的诗歌。不仅仅是英语的学习,孩子们在方方面面的进步都是实实在在看得见的。
From the timidity at the beginning of the exercises, the children gradually changed into the confidence and courage on the stage; from the initial fear of mispronouncing a word to the fluent presentation of a complete poem with music; not only the learning of English, but also the progress of the children in all aspects can be seen.
今天进步的一小点,是明天成功的一大步。孩子们也对一直以来关爱培育着自己的老师和爸爸妈妈们表示了发自内心的感谢。感谢老师一遍遍的鼓励自己要把英语大声说出来,感谢父母为自己付出的辛苦和陪伴,感谢身边每一个为了自己成长而时刻辛劳的人们。
One small step forward today is a big step forward in tomorrow's success. The children also express their heartfelt thanks to the teachers and parents who have been caring and nurturing themselves. Thank teachers for encouraging themselves to speak English aloud over and over again. Thank parents for their hard work and companionship. Thank everyone around us who works hard all the time for their own growth.

Lastly, Principal Yang expressed her praise for students’ communication ability. She encouraged students: ‘ English is the language that can be the pass for the global village. I believe you can keep learning English and using English in your daily life.’
